heres to the new year!

2010 was bittersweet.
i spent 7 out of 12 of these months with the greatest man, then july came around and stole him from me.
although it might be tough, 2011 will be a great year.
lets conquer it together.

does anyone else like to dress for the new year?
i might not be hitting up any big parties but i'll still dress for the occasion.

farewell 2010, you will be remembered.

my corner round 2

this corner has a lot of meaning to me.
-i inherited the spoons from my grandmother which influenced me to start collecting spoons as well.
-the small picture inside of the frame is of landon and i at the fray concert in the summer of 09'
-the body form is a symbol of my love for fashion design.
-some of the necklaces were my mothers from when she was my age.
-landon gave me the black and white picture holder for christmas of 09'
-the pictures inside of the frames came from an anthropologie magazine, which i drool over every month.

it is so fun to personalize a small space. there are endless options in my book.
on to another corner tomorrow!

whats in my corner?

i have recently redone my bedroom so i thought it would be kind of fun to do a little tour.
and, it forces me to finish putting the final touches together.
i'm going to start with what i've finished first.

and here it is..

where i got everything:
#1-if you have never visited qadesigns its a must. her items can make any room feel so personalized.
i chose utah because thats where i am from and i chose mexico because thats where my other half is. :)
#2-the planted earth is here in orem, utah. its one of our major thrift stores. i visit there at least once a month and can always find something i'm in love with.
#3-for christmas my family draws names and this year my brother tristin & sister in-law juanique drew mine. they live in colorado therefore that is where they bought it. its the perfect jewelry holder!
thanks brother&sister!
#4-once again, this was a gift from my amazing nanny family.
(jane is the best blogger, you should give her a visit!)

there you have it! i hope that was a little bit entertaining for you.
happy decorating!

let life begin.

i have finally taken a big step in my life. i have made a commitment that i am thrilled about.
i started hair school.
not just normal hair school, i am an apprentice for the owner of studio 210.
yes, i might feel like a fish out of water but i know it will only get easier as time goes on.
i will graduate in about 15 months and get this, by the time i finish school landon will only have 4 months left.
lets all jump for joy! :)

it has only been 2 weeks and i'm already feeling more comfortable.
shampooing people's heads is my forte.
in about 3 months i should be able to trim some hair and actually get my hands in to the whole thing.

wish me luck!

a very merry christmas

what a fabulous christmas i had.
we had a union suit christmas eve..

woke up to gifts from santa, mrs. clause, rudolf, the elves. you know, that whole gang.

watched these cute kids open presents of all sorts.
and i got to skype with landon.
yep, skype.
it feels as if it was a dream.
seeing his face, i know it sounds cheesy, but it was completely divine.

to the best missionary in the world-i love you!

i hope your christmas was just as merry and bright.

Friday 24 December 2010

ready or not..

every year this is what my wrapping corner looks like

now the present are wrapped and snug under the tree
mostly newspaper and fabrics were used this year.
{thanks jane for this great idea}
then i found these cute christmas tags from here.
ready or not, christmas is here!
xoxo.

12 feet

of white was dumped on utahs front door step yesterday morning.
hello christmas.

Tuesday 21 December 2010

sock snowen.

for my sisters neighborhood gifts we made these sock snowmen.
all you need is some socks, rice, rubber bands, tooth picks, buttons and scrap fabric.
pretty much all of those things are just lying around your house, right?
such a cute and easy gift!

scraps

instead of using wrapping paper i thought i'd start using my fabric scraps.
and instead of buying a card, make your own!
doesnt it have lots more personality?

divine body scrub

the second thing i'm giving for christmas is my home made sea salt scrub.
not only is it great for close friends, its perfect for your neighbor too!

 my recipe:
alessi 'fine' sea salt

alessi 'course' sea salt

sadaf  pure grapeseed oil
&
my fav, lavender essential oil.
a while back when i looked up sea salt scrubs most recipe's called for 1 to 1. so, 1 cup of oil to 1 cup of salt.
i started off with just that but it seemed a little too oily for me so i kept adding both salts until i liked the consistency.
once i was through with that i added the lavender essential oil to make it smell delicious. lemon essential oil would also be a great fresh choice. just add however much you would like then you are finished!

this was such an easy project that took me about 5 minutes.
you're friends and neighbors will thank you! :)

ps-all of the above products can be found at your local target superstore.
you can also replace any of those items for whatever brand you would like.

Wednesday 15 December 2010

give this christmas.

this year i thought i'd make my gifts more realistic and homemade.
for my closest friends and loved ones i had a few ideas come to mind.
the first being this..
succulents are some of my favorite plants.
they last forever and arent too high maintenance.
just as friends are, right? hehe.

i couldnt find any pots that i loved so i went a different route..

a simple $9.99 mens button up can turn something not so nice in to something wonderful.
the perfect touch to a perfect home.

Tuesday 14 December 2010

whats on my list?

thanks to bree for posting about this amazing ring, santa told me that its in the mail. i might cry from happiness.
i love its simplicity yet it screams out a million words.

the idra frill force jacket via anthro.
santa brought this one to me a few weeks ago. believe me, i've already worn it to pieces.

and last but definitely not least. the TRIA laser hair removal system from nords
an easy way to get rid of that unwanted hair for less and from your own home. yes please!

Sunday 12 December 2010

oh christmas tree, oh christmas tree

why not try something a little different this holiday season?
i love the old fashioned green christmas tree but when i have my own home i'm definitely considering one of these.

or maybe i'll go a little bit more economical and try out one of these

or maybe i'll want to get a wee bit more complicated with one of these

Wednesday 8 December 2010

mirror, mirror

my first visit to the sweet tooth fairy in draper, utah i was in awe.
i loved the color.
the decor.
the logo.
the feeling.
i knew thats what my bedroom would be based off of.

sadly, i dont have a picture of the cute mirror collage that they have in their store but here is my version

i did my mirror collage within $105.00
here is the re-run.

not too bad!

oh how lovely

i was in major need of a deep breath of fresh air.
how did i solve that problem?
by painting my bedroom.

this was the color of my room before
orange+yellow.

here's the color of my room now
isnt it nice?
i am so happy with how it turned out.
and do you see the stripe?
i did one wall of those stripes.
i was terrified at first but thanks to frog tape it made the job easy.

ours, theirs

for halloween/christmas my sister and i made the jack skelington that stands right outside of the haunted mansion.

here's their version

here's ours

we did add some lights and a christmas hat.
we didnt do so shabby, did we?

what do you get..

a 20 year old boy/man/gentleman for christmas?
psh..thats easy.
thats right. a miniature race car.
i got landon 2 so that him and his companion can race them together.
seems kiddish, right?
never.

santa monica pier.

while in cali we visited the santa monica pier.
the santa monica pier is one of those places that just makes you happy.
rain or shine.

72* and perfect

i am returning home from a very busy trip to cali.
we spent 2 very fun days at disneyland to celebrate my sissies 30th birthday.
i saw this for my first time and loved it.

the rest of the days were filled with family.
my wonderful grandfather passed away at 95 years old.
he lived a very happy & successful life.
he was buried at the Forest Lawn Cemetery.
i believe that this cemetery is one of the most beautiful in the world.
no joke.

also, have you ever been to pinkberry?
i may have gone to heaven and back.
red mango was at the top of my list until i got the coconut pinkberry..
someone, please open a pinkberry in utah or i may just be moving to cali tomorrow ;)

Cuz it's healthy; I'm feeling better already"
